Most dual-format apps record vertical, then cut a 16:9 strip out of the middle to fake a wide shot, so everything to the left and right is lost. In Dual Frame, CraftCam records the camera's full 4:3 sensor frame and cuts both formats from it. The portrait uses the full height and the landscape uses the full width, so your wide shot really is wide.

The usual questions
Is the landscape just a crop of the portrait?
No. Dual Frame records the sensor's full 4:3 frame. The 9:16 uses its full height and the 16:9 uses its full width, so the landscape shows about a third more of the scene than a strip cut from a vertical video.
What resolution are the two files?
Each format is encoded as its own file. In HD you get 720×1280 portrait and 1280×720 landscape. With Pro 4K you get 2160×3840 and 3840×2160, at up to 60fps. HD uses H.264 for maximum compatibility, while 4K and HDR use HEVC.
Which iPhones are supported?
CraftCam runs on iPhone with iOS 26.6 or later. Dual Frame works on every supported iPhone. Dual Lens needs an Ultra Wide camera, and both Dual Lens and Front & Back need an iPhone that can run two cameras at once. The app greys out any mode your phone can't run.
Is there a watermark?
Never, on any plan, free included.
What happens after my 5 free takes?
Everything you've recorded stays in the app and in Photos. To keep recording, choose Annual, Monthly or Lifetime. All three unlock the same features.
Will I lose a take if something goes wrong?
CraftCam writes your video as you record. If the app closes unexpectedly, it recovers the usable clips the next time it opens. If your phone gets too hot, it saves the recording and pauses the camera until it cools down.
Does the teleprompter show up in my video?
No. The script is only on your screen and is never recorded.

Hi, I'm Lucas. I made CraftCam for my wife.
She makes videos, and every one had to be filmed twice: vertical for TikTok and Reels, then again horizontal for YouTube. Same script, same light, twice the work.
So I built her a camera that does both at once. CraftCam records both formats from the full sensor in a single take, with a teleprompter right by the lens so she can stop re-recording her lines.
